ADAT ISTIADAT

Sistem sosial masyarakat adat di Maluku menganut dua faham yakni Pata Siwa dan Pata Lima. Pata Siwa adalah Persekutuan Sembilan sedangkan Pata Lima adalah Persekutuan Lima yang semula mendiami Pulau Seram. Kelompok-kelompok persekutuan tersebut bermigrasi keluar Pulau Seram, baik ke wilayah Maluku Utara, terutama di Tidore dikenal dengan istilah Uli Siwa dan di Ternate dengan istilah Uli Lima maupun ke Lease, Banda dan Ambon di Maluku Tengah bahkan sampai ke Maluku Tenggara, khususnya di Kei dikenal dengan istilah Ur Siw (a) dan Lor Lim (a). Pengertian Siwa dan Lima telah menjadi pengertian universal yakni Milik Kita Bersama, menjadi simbol Persatuan dan Persaudaraan di Maluku, bahkan menjadi lambang Pemerintah Provinsi Maluku.

BUDAYA

Salah satu acara tradisi yang masih dan terus diselenggarakan adalah pukul sapu lidi, yang dilaksanakan oleh raja bersama masyaraka negeri morella dan negeri mamala di ambon - maluku, dimana acara tersebut diselenggarakan pada setiap 7 (tujuh) hari seusai hari besar islam "idul fitri", dimana ciri khas acara tersebut yaitu pukul sapu lidi aren ketubuh antara lawan satu dengan yang lainnya, dengan beberapa syarat tidak boleh mengenai muka dan atau bagian pital lawannya.

Acara tradisi pukul sapu lidi ini sudah berjalan sejak beberapa ratus tahun lahu di negeri morella dan negeri mamala, sehingga hampir seluruh masyarakat disekitar pulau ambon maupun wisatawan asing yang mengetahui acara tardisi tersebut pasti padat menghadiri dan menyaksikan acara tradisi pukul sapu lidi tersebut, demikian pula dengan acara tradisi bambu gila yang sangat dikenal oleh masyarakat maluku maupun masyarakat daerah lain dimana acara tradisi bambu gila sudah diketahui adalah berasal dari maluku, namun masih banyak masyarakat daerah lain yang tidak mengetahui seperti apa acara yang disebut bambu gila.

POTENSI DAERAH

Provinsi Maluku yang memiliki ribuan pulau, mengandung energi panas bumi sebesar 600 MWe. Jumlah ini tersebar di 13 wilayah berbeda yakni, di Kabupaten Buru Selatan (1 lokasi), Kabupateb Buru 2 lokasi, Kota Ambon 3 lokasi, Maluku Tengah 6 lokasi, dan Kabupaten Maluku Barat Daya 1 lokasi. Sementara potensi sumber daya panas bumi secara keseluruhan di Indonesia sebesar 27 GWe atau setara dengan 219 juta barel minyak yang merupakan 40 persen panas bumi dunia.

Selain itu, pulau Maluku juga memiliki sumberdaya hasil hutan bukan kayu dengan aneka jenis, berpotensi untuk digali dan dikembangkan pada masa mendatang, beberapa hasil hutan bukan kayu adalah, Rotan, Damar, Minyak Kayu Putih, Gaharu, dan Bambu.Tanaman bambu di Pulau Seram ditemukan mulai dataran rendah sampai pegunungan, secara umum ditemukan pada tempat terbuka dan bebas dari genangan air.  Tanaman bambu hidup merumpun, memiliki ruas dan buku (Manuhuwa, 2008).
